“Paulding Sound” is the moniker taken by John Paulding, a singer, songwriter, producer, and all-around creative who focuses on synth-heavy pop music. John was born in New Jersey and grew up surrounded by music, and drew inspiration from the tight harmonies and weaving lines of the vocal traditions that he was immersed in.

John discovered his ability to craft melodies at an early age, but struggled to find the right medium in which to express himself. It was not until his college years that he discovered the awesome power of digital musical production. In the years that followed, John moved to New York City and began honing the skills that he needed to bring his ideas into the world.

Building these skills took time, and it soon became clear just how deep the rabbit holes can go when producing music. John spent countless hours fiddling with knobs and faders in an attempt to achieve the perfect sound. His process proved to be agonizingly slow, especially as a solo artist and amateur producer, but eventually all of the pieces started to fall into place.

After years of work, John finally felt that he had gotten as close as he could get to achieving his musical vision and was ready to release his first single. “Soul,” streaming everywhere on January 23rd, 2026, attempts to convey the experience of living in New York City.
